Welcome to my idiosyncratic descriptions of the runs at Fernie Alpine Resort. If you are using this normally with frames, you can click on any of the run number icons on the map, including the run list at the bottom, and the description, usually with pictures will appear in the right hand frame. For those of you with religious convictions against frames, you may click here to view the trail map and see the comments in separate browser windows when you click on the map.
Note that there is no guarantee that the descriptions are accurate or up to date for runs and names do change over time and of course differing conditions can have a huge influence. Please let me know if you see any typos, broken links, just plain errors or if you just have a comment. There is a link on the bottom of each description that should take you to you mail program with the correct address and subject filled in for a new message. You can also just email me at craig@redtree.com.
Most of my comments are directed towards advanced skiers who know their limits and have experience judging variations in terrain and conditions. Many of the areas I discuss are steep with obstacles and would be dangerous to anyone skiing beyond their ability for the conditions. I am not a professional skier, but I am experienced and I know my limits. I will not ski many of these areas unless conditions are favourable. Also note that conditions change quickly and what was a great run one day could be extremely hazardous the next. Many parts of this mountain are steep enough to result in uncontrolled slides in hard conditions. People have been seriously injured and even killed in this way.
Please be careful and use common sense.
